After a 2.5 hour bus ride from Dublin to Galway we were at the bus station at 10:15am. My mom's friend Dierdre kindly scooped us up and off we went to her house for a quick bite to eat. She then dropped us off at the bus station again and we were off on our 12pm half day Cliffs of Moher tour that we booked for 25euro each through Galway Tour company.
While the Cliffs were spectacular, it was really the bus tour that stood out to me. The scenery was beautiful the entire ride. Originally, I thought it would be a nice time time to nap- wrong wrong wrong! Tons of green and limestone. Sheep. Horses. Cows. Everywhere.
Our guides were funny and tried to make it very interactive. We made a stop for fresh air at Corkscrew Hills and by 1:45pm we were at the cliffs! We had two hours there which I would say is perfect for a February day. Truthfully, it wasn't that cold however it was very muddy and windy. The cliffs were definitely a little scary - we didn't dare go near the edge. I would love to see them again on a sunny day because they were even wonderful on an overcast day.
After the cliffs our bus took us to a stop for lunch at O'Connor's pub in Doolin. Adam and I had a hearty meal of chicken fingers and some pints. As college students/Americans we were incredibly amused that our tour guides were encouraging all of us to take beer "to go" on the bus as long as it was in lidded paper coffee cup. We happily obliged. On the way back we made a stop at the "baby cliffs" and we were at Galway Coach station around 7pm.
That night we went around to see Quay Street in Galway. We went to three lively pubs: 1520 Bar, The Quays, and The King's Head.
