London, England: Jan 21-Jan 24

Hello,

Monday was a small victory! Had enough kitchen stuff to make my first breakfast (vs. buying a croissant like I had been each AM). Then I had my Retail Marketing class that class that afternoon- fun fact: it's the Dean of the Business School who teaches it because he is passionate the subject and worked in the industry!

Tuesday, I popped into this well-known book store Daunt Books. I live 2 blocks from it and it's so cute (see pic below). Then I had my Current Debates in Tourism class which was fine and I think will be interesting but long- all of my classes are 4 hours...

Wednesday I had an early lecture for Social Media for Business course and then there was a decent break of time before the seminar. Unfortunately, the seminar was definitely a low point for me in my first week of classes as I could not understand what my instructor was saying in the slightest due to a really thick accent. I attempted to change my section of the seminar with no success. It's unfortunate as it's three hours long and will be a struggle, but the course is 100% a 4,000 word report at the end so hopefully all will be fine. But later my stressful day turned around as I booked some trips happening this semester- so far: Paris, Galway, and Amsterdam! My friends and I also got Nando's (again)- oops but it's a good value meal

Thursday- no classes! My friend Liz and I went on London Landmarks- West tour! We did it through Strawberry Tours who operates free (tip only) tours. It was two hours long and we saw many sites and learned such interesting facts and anecdotes. Such as: the lions in Trafalgar Square are kinda funny looking because their bodies are modeled after dogs. Another fun fact was learning about the Michael Fagan incident at Buckingham palace. We also got to see the horse guards parade happen outside the palace. Other sites we saw included Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, St. Jame's Park, St. Jame's Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben (under construction until 2021), and House of Parliament.
