Dublin Ireland: 3/15-3/17

A lot of people suggested I go to Dublin any other weekend than St. Patrick's Day weekend. I'm glad I didn't listen- it was a blast! I had a hellish time getting there with some issues getting to the airport, a delayed flight, and incredibly long passport line filled with Americans (lol) finally getting to University College Dublin around 2am. But once I had a night's sleep all was well! While I had gone to Dublin the month before on the way to Galway I really didn't have time to do touristy things with the exception of the Temple Bar area. I will say I am glad I went there at a slightly less busy time as you can imagine the crowds. Friday morning Adam and I toured Kilmainham Gaol. We went on a guided tour of this former prison and got to see the cells of many famous Irish revolutionaries. That afternoon we went to the Guinness Storehouse. It was fantastic and absolutely worth doing even if you don't like Guinness! The tour is self-guided and completely interactive. We probably spent close to 3 hours there. The top floor is the Gravity Bar which has panoramic views of Dublin and there is a pint included in your ticket price. The next day started with brunch at this restaurant I had wanted to try called Sophie's at the Dean Dublin Hotel. The meal, drinks, and ambience were awesome. I had my go-to favorite: Egg's Benedict. Adam showed me St. Stephen's Green park. Another highlight that day was visiting the National Leprechaun Museum (yes, you read that right). Adam and I actually became leprechauns- see pictures below! After the museum we went to Book of Kells which I honestly thought was not worth the ticket price (just my opinion ) but it seemed like a must to do while in Dublin. The next day was St. Patrick's Day which I will give it's own post :)
